Our aim:
An opportunity to expand and challenge
our reading and meet new people while meeting in some of Canberra's delightful
cafe locations.
Our ground rules:
1. Bookclub is a friendly and open
environment
2. Everyone comes along for their own goals and expectations
3. Everyone is entitled to express their opinion about the chosen title
4. We should strive to ensure everyone gains something from the club
How we operate:
Every five weeks we meet to discuss a chosen title. When we meet the first hour is devoted to discussing the book and the second hour to socialising and getting to know each other. The person next in line to choose will also have their title's details ready.
Communication between meetings is via email and coordinated by one person.
At the beginning of a new round we review our aims, goals and expectations to ensure that all members are getting the most out of their bookclub experience.
New members:
Each new person to the bookclub has the option to invite a new member. We do not have a minimum or maximum number that we think we should be. At the end of each year we can discuss whether we are too big or to small.
